Business Analysis: National Certificate - NQF Level 5

This NQF Level 5 foundation programme is designed as an entry level course for delegates wanting to enter the Business Analysis profession. It provides a stepping stone to occupations in a range of business systems environments including systems development and support, business intelligence, process management and test analysis.

Entry Criteria

This programme is aimed primarily at IT and business graduates who want to enter the Business Analysis profession and receive a SAQA aligned qualification.

  • A qualification with a business or computing major Or
  • At least one year’s work experience in a business related role And
  • Strong computer and Internet literacy skills (NQF level 4)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (NQF level 4)
  • Excellent thinking and analytical skills
  • Access to a PC and software for course assignments
  • To complete a course application and pre-assessments to ensure you meet the qualification entry requirements

We use a blend of face-to-face facilitator-led training and group discussions, assignments and case studies, to embed skills.

You will need to:

  • Attend full and half-day (or evening) lectures and seminar sessions
  • Demonstrate theoretical and practical understanding of programme content
  • Complete and present workplace assignments and integrated coursework exercises
  • Participate in and be assessed on contribution in group discussions and activities
  • Obtain a sub-minimum of 50% for module tests
  • Obtain a final overall course mark of 50%
  • Compile, submit and be found competent on a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)

By the end of the programme, you will have mastered the most important business analysis tools and techniques, as well as gained knowledge and practice in:

  • Developing strong interpersonal skills in communicating, presenting, facilitating and building relationships
  • Managing your time more effectively
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking, applied to real world scenarios
  • The structure and environment of business and the role of ICT
  • Generating a business case around a real world problem in your business environment
  • Gathering and recording information and identifying and documenting business requirements

You will receive both MM Matlotlo certification and the National Certificate: Business Analysis on completion of the set requirements and on being found competent on your Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)
